Mold Assessment and Testing
Burke Environmental Services is the southwest Florida Division of Burke Emergency Restoration. Founder and owner John Burke has worked in the mold industry for more than 20 years. He is a certified and licensed Mold Assessor in the state of Florida, a Certified Mold Hygienist and a Certified Green Indoor Air Quality Specialist.
Burke Environmental Services provides Mold Assessment and Testing services to Florida’s Sarasota and Manatee counties. The Assessment includes:
- Environmental testing
- Sampling the environment for mold and allergens
- Evaluation of the property for water damage/moisture intrusion
- Pre and post-remediation mold assessments
- Development of protocols for mold remediation
Mold can be difficult to visually identify. It is often located in confined areas such as attics, basements and crawl spaces. It can also be hidden behind trim molding or surface mounts such as cabinets or inside of wall cavities. Professional mold assessment and testing is vitally important to properly evaluate a structure for the presence of mold. Burke Environmental Services has the experience and capability to provide these services for residential and commercial clients.
The presence of mold is determined using numerous techniques. Sampling is conducted in accordance with nationally recognized protocols and guidelines as outlined in the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) “A Field Guide for the Determination of Biological Contaminants in Environmental Samples”, 2nd Edition 2005. The sampling chain-of-custody and accountability are in accordance with our industry accepted ASTM Standard: ASTM- D 4840-95.
The Assessments are performed, and reports created in accordance with Florida Statute 468.84, Rules Chapter 61-31 Administrative Code Standards of Practice for Mold Services as well as following the ASTM D7338-14 Standard Guide for Assessments of Fungal Growth in Buildings.
A laboratory Certificate of Analysis is provided for all mold sampling. This is included in the comprehensive mold assessment report. Based on the results, recommendations are given. This may include recommendations to further investigate and remediate identified mold issues or give the property a clean bill of health.
